Renewing Local Metaphors will begin with a discussion on Aishah’s Dublin Award-longlisted Hades (2023) and the defamiliarisation of the city in which the novel is located, Ipoh.

Then the event will turn to writing, with Aishah guiding participants as they write about one ordinary object or landscape in Ipoh that has caught their attention.
