To chart the present age of disinformation, Nuurrianti Jalli and Ika Idris examine the weaponisation of the internet in the Southeast Asian context in Misguided Democracy in Malaysia and Indonesia: Digital Propaganda in Southeast Asia. A co-publication between SIRD and Rowman & Littlefield, the book unpacks the strategies and tactics used by propagandists, state entities, and political factions to manipulate and mislead public opinion through social media.

In particular, Nuurrianti and Ika outline the role disinformation plays in altering electoral behaviour, political dialogue, social unity, regional stability, and global diplomacy, with an aim to better understand how social media will shape the future of our socities.
