In Invisible No More: The Making of the Malaysian Gig Workers Act, former Human Resources minister Steven Sim offers his account of the drafting and passage of the Gig Workers Act 2025, which laid the foundation for gig workers to receive recognition and certain protections under the law.

The act is designed to protect the rights of Malaysian gig workers as contractors, outline the duties of contracting entities, and regulate the terms and conditions of the service agreement between both, with a Consultative Council to recommend minimum standards and a Gig Workers Tribunal to mediate disputes.

Although Sim was moved to the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives soon after the passage of the act, Invisible No More provides a behind the scenes account of how the landmark bill was brought into being.
