The Kuala Lumpur Alternative Bookfest returns for four days, from February 22-25, 2024 at Central Market, Kuala Lumpur. The event, organised by the Malaysian Book Publishers Association (MABOPA), will feature book launches, stage shows, meet-and-greets with authors, and over 40 booths selling books.
Some of the highlights include the launch of Syair Jaran Tamasa (Buku Fixi), the 1804 poem transliterated to Roman script for the first time by a team led by academic Mulaika Hijjas; three books from three musicians, Viona’s Per Diem Vol II: The Cerebral Currency, Ku Syafiq’s Gonzo Tanpa Fiasco: Muzik Tidak Harus Tewas, and Mohd Jayzuan’s Malam Dingin Jahanam (Rabak-Lit); and a meet-and-greet with rising literary superstar, Aishah Zainal, whose debut novel Hades was longlisted for the Dublin Literary Award.
There will also be a host of bookstores and publishers with booths at KLAB 2024, including Gerakbudaya, Tokosue, Fixi and more.
