The latest issue of the always compelling journal Svara is almost here, with Bersih’s Ooi Kok Hin taking over as guest editor. The current issue is titled ‘Lufti dalam ingatan’, a reference to Ahmad Lufti Othman, the late activist, writer and Harakah editor.

Besides two essays on two late writers, Zin Mahmud on Lufti and Benz Ali on former Utusan Melayu editor-in-chief Said Zahari, the theme for the current issue is ideology, with essays from Ooi on the emergence of fascism, Hadri Shah on anarchism, and PSM’s S Arutchelvan on socialism. The issue also features a behind-the-scenes look at Tiffany Tsao’s PEN Award-winning translation of Budi Darma’s Orang-orang Bloomington.
