Dina Zaman, author of the nonfiction titles I am Muslim, Holy Men, Holy Women and the upcoming Malayland, collects three new short stories for King of the Sea, since its initial publication in 2012, which was longlisted for the Frank O’Connor Short Story Award.
King of the Sea began as a project Dina worked on while studying at Lancaster University, inspired by her homesickness for Terengganu. The stories, exploring themes of love, grief, loss and longing, show how Terengganu is less a state that a country unto itself, inscribed by magic, spirit and sensuality.
King of the Sea is available on the Clarity site and in major bookstores.
