Gerakbudaya has unearthed another talented debutant in A Ubaidillah with In Search of an Oasis, a novel about two cousins who embark on separate journeys in Jordan in the aftermath of a family tragedy.

Iskandar yearns to atone for his sins by returning to Islam, while Indra wants to fulfil his father and grandfather’s wishes by continuing his religious education. In Jordan, Iskandar relocates to a refugee camp, under the tutelage of an enigmatic religious leader. Indra crosses paths with a Jordanian family and falls in love with their daughter, Hiba. But the oases of both may just turn out to be mirages.
